Parliament Funkadelic: A never-ending, bizarre party in South Lake

Parliament Funkadelic | William Thoren

Parliament-Funkadelic better known as P-Funk is an American music collective headed byGeorge Clinton since the 1960s. Their eclectic style has drawn on science-fiction psychedelia, outlandish fashion and surreal humor to produce some of the wildest dance parties this side of Newark, N.J., where it all began.

They’ve since achieved 13 Top 10 hits on the American R&B charts between 1967 and 1983, including six No. 1s. Their work would go on to have an influential effect on the history of funk,post-punk, hip-hop and techno artists of the 80s and 90s, while pioneering the mythology ofAfrofuturism. In 1997, Clinton and 15 other members of Parliament Funkadelic were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
