The Sierra Avalanche Center recently unveiled its new website. The project, named AvyWeb, is a collaboration between the Sierra Avalanche Center, Sawtooth National Forest Avalanche Center, North West Avalanche Center and the National Avalanche Center to build a modern multi-tenant website, according to a newsletter announcement.
While the Sierra Avalanche Center is the first to launch on this new website, it is anticipated that more centers will be using it by next season. The intention of the platform is to go beyond standardizing forecast products with streamlined content and improved user experience, according to the announcement. Centers share website infrastructure and maintenance while preserving their unique identities. This platform is available to all avalanche forecast centers using the Avalanche Forecast Platform (AFP) built by the National Avalanche Center.
By sharing a unified front end experience, it will standardize the user experience and share maintenance costs. Additional improvements are expected to be made to the site by the end of the year. | sierraavalanchecenter.org
