This Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed course is a not-to-be-missed course to play this season.

Jones described the course as “the ideal mountain layout with a challenge you won’t want to miss and views you will never forget.” The course is ideal for all levels of golfers from recreational, high handicapper to competitive, scratch golfer.

Toughest Hole
The par 4, 3rd hole measures 397 yards from the tips. The hole plays uphill and will likely challenge all parts of your game. The fairway bunkers along the right side of the fairway come into play on the dogleg right hole. It takes a long, straight tee shot to have any hope at par. On your second shot, beware of the right front bunkers protecting this small green. Once on the green, it will take a good read to come away with par.

Signature Hole
The par 3, 14th hole measures 219 yards from the tips. This is one of the most picturesque par 3s in the Sierra. Many don’t take enough club off the tee to be able to reach the green. The small pond in front of the green makes for a high risk, high return tee shot if you are going for the green, which offers a only a small landing area. Otherwise, the safer play is to stay to the right of the green and use a high-lofted wedge on your second shot to place the ball close to the pin. However, be aware of the bunkers to the right of the green. If you manage a par or better on this hole, you are doing better than most golfers.

Amenities
The Championship course offers exceptional facilities to practice your game, such as a driving range with targets ranging from 40 to 250 yards, as well as two bunkers and a 6,200-square-foot practice putting green with plenty of turf areas to practice your short game.

The golf shop was named Golf World’s 100 Best Golf Shops in 2011 and has a wide variety of apparel and equipment. Also, don’t miss the Grill at The Chateau, which is a great place to stop before or after your round for a large variety of fresh selections for lunch and happy hour.

You can play both the Championship and Mountain courses after 3 p.m. for $99 including cart; both courses must be played in 72 hours. If you don’t want the time restrictions, they have a 36-hole special for $199, which includes cart. Again, both courses must be played in 72 hours.
