Cutline: The Thai chicken pizza is a nice break from the typical pizza flavor. Wash it down with a Lowlife Lager. ·
Whether you’re looking for a tasty meal with a lakefront view, a place to watch the game with some friends or a rowdy spot to dance the night away, Lakeside Pizza has got it covered. This pizza joint featuring high-definition TV’s on every wall, each showing a different game, twilights as a small town nightclub on select weekends starring some of the biggest DJs to come through town.
The small but diverse menu has undergone some recent changes and features a variety of tastes to please a hungry crowd. The wide sampling of beers and signature cocktails are perfect for washing it all down. Start with a trip through the salad bar. With the variety of choices, it might be hard to stop at one trip.
The pizzas each start with a thick and crispy herbed crust and a flavorful sauce. The Lakeside combo, which features a trio of pepperoni, sausage and ham, topped with peppers, onion and mushrooms, is sure to satisfy that meaty pizza craving. Alternatively, the Greek Pizza with spinach, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, olives and feta cheese is lighter but equally as flavorful.
During a recent lunch break with my co-worker Annmarie Snorsky, we skipped the typical pizza flavors for a chance to try the Spicy Thai Chicken pizza. It starts with a tangy Thai-inspired sauce instead of a tomato sauce and is topped with chicken, carrot, crushed peanuts, green onion and mozzarella cheese. Despite my initial craving for classic pepperoni, the unique bouquet of flavors in the Spicy Thai made me glad I tried something new.
We couldn’t pass up an order of the fish tacos, which are a rotating special at Lakeside. These generous-sized tacos start with a full fillet of blackened basa fish, which is pan-seared and topped with homemade pico de gallo, lettuce and shredded cheddar. A side of buffalo sauce and a squeeze of lime perfectly complements the flavors.
During our meal, we also had the opportunity to sample Lakesides newest special, a kale and quinoa salad with a cilantro lime dressing. This refreshing dish is a perfect light meal after a day in the sun.
The new offerings also include pulled pork sliders and a cheeseburger or garden burger with all the fixings.
Check out Happy Hour from 3 to 6 p.m. daily for $2 to $3 draft beers and discounted appetizers including three flavors of wild wings, hog wings, onion rings and garlic strips, as well as small pizzas. Among the variety of beer choices is Lakeside’s homebrew LowLife, which now comes in two varieties – a Pilsner and a Wheat, which pairs well with any of the menu items. Additionally, enjoy free rounds of Pool on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
Every Friday during baseball season, Lakeside Pizza is home to Giants fans. Patrons wearing Black and Orange receive Happy hour prices during games.
Lakeside Pizza is located at 805 N. Lake Blvd. in Tahoe City. For more information, call (530) 583-2000 or visit lakesidetahoecity.com.
