A trio of winter storms kicked off a Thanksgiving holiday to remember as Mother Nature blanketing Tahoe resorts in several feet of fresh powder. Over the weekend, these great conditions prompted the opening of Sierra-at-Tahoe along with ASC Training Center, Royal Gorge, Tahoe Cross Country and Tahoe Donner Cross Country.

Tahoe downhill resorts are opening with new offerings, expanded snowmaking, new events and clinics with something for everyone. Check out our annual Downhill Ski Guide for the latest news and events, and read the Winter 2016-17 edition of Tahoe Powder magazine to catch up on the what lies ahead in the Tahoe Sierra.

With all this fresh powder, back-country skiers and riders and snowmobilers are advised to use caution with the conditions, as Sierra Avalanche Center reported Moderate Avalanche Danger along the Sierra Crest and the Mount Rose area on Nov. 28. Read the advisory here and be sure to sign up for the daily Avalanche Advisory.

Look for some light snow coming in late Wednesday afternoon, with a chance of more snow on Friday night.
