The Tahoe City Trout Sculpture that has sat in the wye at the intersections of Highways 89 and 28 since 1977 will soon be dismantled before construction of a roundabout begins as part of the Highway 89 realignment project.
Representatives of the SR 89/Fanny Bridge Community Revitalization Project and the North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce stated in a press release that the agencies “were unable to reach a reasonable agreement with Mr. John Betts, the creator of the Tahoe City Trout Statue, to find a place for the relocation of the statue within the project area.”
