South Lake Tahoe’s Oktoberfest

Courtesy Camp Richardson

To celebrate 25 years of Bavarian-themed fun, Camp Richardson Historic Resort and Marina is adding new food and games to this year’s Oktoberfest on Oct. 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. New sausage varieties, Bavarian beef stew, Beacon beer and brat boil, and caramel apples will be provided. There will also be chances to win a mountain bike and purchase 25th anniversary merchandise, including a commemorative glass stein from Germany and signature shirts.

Live polka music will fill the air both days, accompanied by dancers on Oct. 6.

There will be a range of family-friendly activities from face painting and balloon art to bouncy houses. This year there will be a climbing wall and free pumpkin bowling, as well as the usual beer-stein holding, brat-eating, yodeling and dog and people costume contests.

All festival tickets for food, beverages and activities must be purchased with cash at the ticket booths.

Daily and entrance and parking for the event are free. Parking is available in the resort’s Eagles Nest campground on paved sites. Festivalgoers are encouraged to take advantage of the free bike valet in front of the Mountain Sports Center. | camprichardson.com
