Three ski area have opened for the 2021-22 season with Palisades Tahoe and Boreal both opening on Oct. 29 for downhill skiing and riding following a massive snowstorm earlier in the week. This is only the third time in Palisades Tahoe history that the ski area has opened in October and Boreal hasn’t open this early in the season in more than a decade.

Nevada Nordic has also been open for skiing at its Tahoe Meadows cross-country trail system. The donation-based, nonprofit ski area is open as conditions permit; check Facebook for grooming updates.

So far this season, Palisades has received 43” of snow while Boreal has received 54” of snow. Palisades will be open Friday to Sunday until Nov. 24 when daily operations start. Schedules are weather dependent; check with resorts directly for up-to-date information.
