The Tahoe Weekly has released its inaugural Preparing for Wildfire Guide, available for free download. The guide is a compilation of our Preparing for Wildfire series that ran in August and September 2021.
Our goal in creating the series and this guide is to help our community be prepared in case a wildfire and potential evacuations occur locally. I started our Preparing for a Wildfire guide in the Tahoe Weekly to provide valuable information that you and your family can use to prepare for a wildfire.
The guide provides easy-to-use information on creating a Go Bag, Evacuation Checklists, local resources for signing up for emergency alerts and evacuation routes, creating defensible space around your home, preparing a home inventory and much more.
Print out the checklists in this guide to use at home to prepare your family in the event of an evacuation and keep a copy in your Go Bag.
