Longboard races return

The Plumas Ski Club is bringing the Longboard Races back to the Johnsville Historic Ski Bowl on Jan. 16. The club promotes skiing activities through historical re-enactments of 1860’s era ski racing in the Lost Sierra and is working to eventually re-opening of the Johnsville Historic Ski Bowl, which is in Plumas-Eureka State Park outside Johnsville.

Event participants race on 9- to 16-foot-long wooden skis in authentic attire, with a limited quantity of ski available for rent. This is a family-friendly event for spectators to enjoy with shuttles available as there is limited parking and food and beverages will be available for sale. Races will also be held on Feb. 20 and March 20. | plumasskiclub.org
