Dog owners beware of algae

USFS

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit has issued a warning for dog owners to avoid toxic algal blooms at Kiva Beach and Taylor Creek on the South Shore.

Shallow pools and slow-moving water can promote the growth of toxic algae that can lead to illness. Do not let dogs drink or swim in affected waters. Visit mywaterquality.ca.gov to see where harmful algal blooms have been reported. | cdc.gov, fs.usda.gov/ltbmu
