Mt. Rose will kick off the season on opening day operating Lakeview Express and the Magic Conveyor, said Mike Pierce, Mt. Rose marketing and sales director, at the Nov. 5 First Tuesday Breakfast Club.
The resort will be open 7 days a week starting from opening day, said Pierce. Opening weekend will include access to intermediate trails on the Main Lodge side of the mountain including Kit Carson Traverse, Kit Carson Bowl, Ponderosa and Show-Off. Beginner terrain will be available on Show-Off Run only, and a selection of terrain park features will be offered on Lower Ponderosa, according to a press release. All parking will be available at the Main Lodge.
Improvements | The resort has invested $2.2 million in major capital improvements including a complete dining area renovation featuring a new Taco Bar, snowmaking system enhancements, trail improvements and a new snowcat.
Open late | Mt. Rose’s popular Open Late schedule will be extended to include both Fridays and Saturdays starting in February 2025.
Deals | Mondays Hospitality and Service Workers; Two’Fer Tuesdays; Ladies Day Thursday; Ski GIF; Local Sundays; active duty military and veterans.
Snowball effect partnership | Mt. Rose has also announced a partnership with Snowball Effect to address increased participation in downhill sports with local youth year-round, according to a release. This collaboration comes in response to the industry trend of declining participation, highlighted in a National Ski Areas Association report.
The program will include bringing snowboarding to elementary schools, stadiums and non-winter venues in Washoe Valley and the Reno area; collaboration between Mt. Rose’s Snowsports Children’s instructors and Jeff Boliba, inventor of the Riglet Reel and Riglet Snowboarding program, to develop a comprehensive curriculum; and development and implementation of activation plans for both on-resort and off-resort events and programs.
