A special shout out of thanks goes to Brent Dana for creating an awesome festival event in our own backyard. The Guitarfish Festival from July 28 to 31 celebrated its sixth year in the woods of Cisco Grove.
“Food, funk and friends make this festival a fun time.”
The trees and stars provided a magical backdrop for the main stage as fish dangled and danced overhead. As evening descended an amazing light show accompanied the night sky. The event kicked off on Thursday evening and the music didn’t end until Sunday night. A variety of artists performed, some veterans of the music scene while others were just breaking out as the event, provided music of all genres.

The festival was a nest for late-night revelers and a great event for families. Gene Evaro Jr. and The Family provided some rockin’ funk between sets; keep an eye out for him if he swings back through Tahoe. Hamsa Lila brought their outer worldly world beat sounds that lit up Saturday night. And, dancing with the guys from Midtown Social was a highlight. (Catch the next performance of Midtown Social at the Concerts at Commons Beach in Tahoe City on Aug. 14.)
