The crisp air and towering pines, fresh, locally made foods and libations signal the return of Sample the Sierra, a one-day farm-to-fork food and wine festival on Sept. 15 from noon to 5 p.m. at Bijou Community Park in South Lake Tahoe.

For the ninth year, Sample the Sierra will host more than 20 booths with a different winery, distillery or brewery expertly paired with a restaurant that uses local produce in signature dishes. Among those featured include Lake Tahoe AleWorX, Blue Angel Café & Catering, Boeger Winery, Riva Grill, Cold Water Brewery & Grill, Primo’s Italian Bistro, Café Fiore and Findleton Estate & Winery.

Local chefs will go head-to-head during the Sierra Chefs Challenge, a competitive and timed cooking challenge. Watch four of the most talented chefs prepare delicious meals and even get the opportunity to taste them. There will be music and other entertainment and a festival marketplace.

Advance tickets are $40 per adult and $30 per person for age 21 and younger or designated drivers until Sept. 14. Tickets at the gate are $45 and $35, respectively. Children age 3 and younger can attend for free. | samplethesierra.com
