The Tahoe Institute for Natural Science kicked off the 2021 Tahoe Big Year on Jan. 1 and is asking volunteers to take part in the friendly competition to search for as many birds as possible in the Tahoe region during the year. The year-long event is meant to inspire people to explore Tahoe’s natural areas, promote Tahoe as a birding destination and cultivate a thriving community of nature and wildlife enthusiasts. With two categories to compete in, Adult and Youth, the entire family can join in.
The event is free and open to anyone, though those who become TINS members (starting at $35 a year) will enjoy additional perks during the Tahoe Big Year. | tahoebigyear.org, tinsweb.org
