Alpenglow Sports kicks off its 16th annual Winter Speaker Series with local guide and mountaineering legend Dave Nettle on Nov. 18. Nettle’s show, “Big Fun in Little Switzerland,” will take the audience on his July 2021 trip with Andrew Oesterreicher to the Pika Glacier in Alaska, a spectacular land of rock and ice, surrounded by dramatic alpine peaks and rock spires, inspiring the name Little Switzerland.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. in the Olympic Village Lodge and will also stream virtually. Due to Covid-19 safety precautions, capacity will be limited, and entry will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees must be older than 12 years of age, and proof of vaccination and masks will be required. Admission for the show is free, and all bar and raffle proceeds will go to the Tahoe Institute of Natural Science.
Other presenters this season will feature Elena Hight on Dec. 16, Nick Russell on Jan. 6, Hilaree Nelson on Feb. 3; and Conrad Anker and Malik Martinon Feb. 17.
