While the primary plans for wildfire in Olympic Valley call for complete evacuation via Hwy. 89, an Area of Refuge evacuation drill will be held on Aug. 27 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. to simulate what would happen if Hwy. 89 were closed in both directions. Simulated evacuation orders will be sent through Nixle and Nextdoor at 9:25 a.m. That will be the signal to go to the meeting area, which is Palisades Tahoe parking lot, north of Squaw Creek, in front of the fire station.
