Asa Lundstrom of Sweden celebrates after winning the inaugural Ironman Lake Tahoe women’s race in 2013. She passed her rival, Jeanne Collonge of France, in the last kilometer of the run to finish in 9 hours 58 minutes and 53 seconds, just 50 seconds ahead of second place.
“I spent the entire day chasing and photographing the athletes all over Placer and Nevada counties, from Kings Beach to Tahoe City to Truckee to Olympic Valley, and got back to the finish line at Squaw Valley just in time to catch this shot,” said photographer Harry Lefrak, LefrakPhotography.com.
